Hello, and welcome to Kingshill! This thread contains all the vital information you may need to know before diving right into the city, so please look over it before you go off gallivanting.

location & size.
Kingshill is a large sprawling port city on the edge of the southern Xeran Sea, which sees more than a bit of trade traffic. Overlooking the not-so-subtly-named King's Harbor, Kingshill has always known a mild climate, surrounded by rolling grasslands (some of which is used for farming) and deciduous forest. Kingshill does not often receive heavy snow if any at all during its winters, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't get cold.

brief history.
Kingshill was founded over five hundred years prior by the royal family. Named the capital only two hundred years thereafter, Kingshill is one of the oldest surviving cities of the human race, considered a place of prestige to those of an older mindset, though it is now more of a bustling trade city than that. The royal family itself has endured much, from scandals, to corruption, to murder, and though no one is entirely sure whether the royal family's blood is as pure and wholesome as it once was, no one is especially enthused about the idea of putting in the effort to find out.

in-house affiliations.
These are Character Affiliation groups which have an impact and role in the city. The city occasionally hosts Affiliation events for them which allow characters of that Affiliation to gain rank and reputation.

Elistaran Aristocracy
While the king plays at ruling the country, his noblemen (and women) are busy scheming and politicking their way to the top of the aristocratic food chain, living luxuriously and somewhat ignorantly apart from the rest of the Kingshill locale in their fancy estates.

Elistaran Military
Elistar's military is a prestigious and old-fashioned one, based straight out of the capital city. The higher-ups in the military have some hand in the day-to-day running of the city, dealing with aristocrats and keeping the city safe, as well as training new recruits and keeping an eye on their neighboring countries.

These are common points of interest found throughout the city, completely intended for players to utilize in their role playing.

The Market Square
One of Kingshill's largest central attractions is the market square - the market square is a huge plaza that easily fits over a thousand people and is filled with market stalls on its regular days. The square is run by a group of businessmen, and fees must be paid to set up shop in the square. Almost anything from anywhere can be bought in the market square, drawing huge crowds that are easy to get lost in. Holidays and festivals are also celebrated here.

The Docks
At one edge of the city lie the docks. The main source of Kingshill's exportation and importation, the docks are always awash with merchants and travelers loading up and unloading ships. The docks are also run by the same group of businessmen running the market square, and fees must be paid to dock ships, as well as move goods around.
